Night Photography - Milky Way

Amazing night under the stars and Milky Way in the Elan Valley, Wales
The whole essence of great night photography is to have the weather gods on your side. This was the case on Wednesday 7 August 2019 when we ventured to the Elan Valley in Wales a designated dark sky area. After arriving around 20:00 hrs and assessing which dam to use as the foreground for the shot. We choose the Craig Goch Dam which is the highest upstream dam, standing at 1040 feet above sea level. We set up and waited for darkness to fall. At around 23:40 hrs the galactic centre of the Milky Way began to appear. We spent over an hour photographing and were amazed at how you could see it with the naked eye. To view click the following: Milky Way and Night Sky
